Edinger, E. F. (1999). Archetype of the Apocalypse: A Jungian Study of the Book of Revelation. Chicago: Open Court.

This was Edward Edinger’s last book before his death. Edinger was one of the foremost Jungian interpreters of the Bible text.

“What does the ‘Apocalypse’ mean psychologically? My essential answer is: the ‘Apocalypse’ means the momentous event of the coming of the Self into conscious realization… This is what the content of the Apocalypse archetype presents: the shattering of the world as it has been, followed by its reconstitution.” (5)
